Robert "Bob" Louis Wold, Sr., passed from this life to be with his Lord on March 25, 2015, after a battle with cancer. He died at Conroy Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. He was 82 years old. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on April 19, 1932, he was the only child of Lorene and Louis Wold. When he was 17, his family moved to Biloxi, Mississippi, where he met the love of his life, Lois. They would share a storybook marriage of 62 years. Bob attended college on a football scholarship from the University of Mississippi, where he also played baseball for the Rebels. He and Lois were married at First United Methodist Church in Oxford during their senior years and both earned their degrees in 1955. After graduation, he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps at the Marine Air Station in Cherry Point, North Carolina, earning the rank of First Lieutenant. After discharge, he began a career as an Air Traffic Controller for the Federal Aviation Administration, serving at the Air Route Traffic Control Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. In 1965, he transferred to the Houston Center and settled his family in Conroy, Texas. He was a longtime youth baseball coach and served his community in many ways. Bob retired from the FAA after decades spent doing work he enjoyed and building friendships that would last the remainder of his life. Bob had many interests in life, but his greatest love was his family. He was a devoted husband and an exemplary father whose three sons each chose him as Best Man for their weddings. He is survived by his wife Lois, son Robert Jr. and wife Janet of Denver, Colorado, son Tim and wife Judy of Conroe, Texas , and son Chris and wife Sharon, also of Conroe. His grandchildren include Amy Wold, Stephen Wold and wife Cheryl, Madeline Wold, Meredith Hanley and husband Brian, Annie Wold and Caroline Wold, as well as great grandson Jackson Wold. Visitation will be held at First United Methodist Church of Conroe, 4308 West Davis Street, Conroe, Texas at 2:00 pm Saturday, March 28, followed by a funeral service at the church and interment at Garden Park Cemetery, 801 Teas Road in Conroe.
