Funeral services for Emory Leon Laird will be held Tuesday March 31, 2015, in Cashner Colonial Chapel, 801 Teas Road, Conroe, Texas 77303. The family will receive visitors from 11:30 am till 12:30 pm with a funeral service starting at 12:30 pm with Rev. Dennis Spire officiating. A private Family graveside service shall follow at Security Cemetery. Mr. Laird was born May 7, 1930, in Houston, Texas, and passed away in Houston, Texas, on March 27, 2015. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, of sixty-one years , Mary Laird; his parents, Thomas Edward and Katherine Frances Laird; Daughter, Jeannie Martin; Brother, Robert Foreman; Sisters, Laverne Pratt and Vera Speight. Mr. Laird served our country in the United States Army from 1948 ''' 1952. He had met the love of his life Mary Joyce Wood and married her on May 8, 1953. For thirty years he was employed by Armco Steel and ten years by Austin Industries. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of San Marcos, Texas and First Baptist Church of Webster, Texas. Emery Leon Laird is survived by daughters, Denise Laird and partner Diane Hary of Houston, Texas, Kathy and husband Ray Houser of Lake Conroe, Texas, grandchildren, Laurie and Frahan Shamsie of Houston, Texas, Steven and Julia Martin of Kailua, Hawaii and Joshua Houser of San Antonio, Texas, great-granchildren, Cayden David Martin, Riley Ethan Martin, Raegen Leann Martin, Aisha Kismet Shamsie, numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
